I wore this outfit to the hospital yesterday for our session on the neurological exam. Perfectly loose, just like we wanted our patient's muscles when trying to elicit his reflexes. My favorite line of the day was my friend trying to get the gentleman to relax his arm, "loosey goosey, loosey goosey!" as she shook his arm around. And yes I'm wearing my black and gold stethoscope in a few of these pictures... don't judge me ;)
Here in New England the weather's playing tricks on us. One day it will be chilly and try to convince us it's fall, then the next day it will be in the 80's! Unsure of what the weather will truly be on any given day, this was my attempt to be prepared for weather ranging from 45-80 degrees. It worked out well! No sweating, no goosebumps, just right.
One of the greatest perks of being back home (Springfield) is the thrift stores. I have yet to find a good, cheap thrift store here in Boston, but back home it's heaven every time I walk in one. This top I got a while back (for a whopping $2.99) and I love pairing it with a simple black skirt (here I paired it with shorts). I'm thinking I'll make a post solely about some of my thrift store finds soon!

It's rare to find an entire house that inspires me. Maybe I'll fall in love with the kitchen, or the guest bedroom, but to have every room fit my tastes perfectly is something that never happens. But then I saw the home of stylist and costume designer Jacqui Getty. Featured in this month's issue of C Magazine, (and my favorite interior design blog, So Haute) her abode sparked some major home envy. She probably doesn't live with a man in the house though- way too much pink and way too many chandeliers (for a guy, not for me); my home will definitely have to balance the masculine and feminine a little more. What do you ladies think of her home?
Just made this delicious apple cider recipe in celebration of the first day of fall! Here's what you need to make 4-6 servings.
About 6 cups of apple cider
2 ounces real maple syrup
3 cinnamon sticks
6 whole cloves
skin of half an orange
Heat the apple cider and the maple syrup over medium heat in a large sauce pan. Add the cloves, cinnamon sticks, and orange peels, and simmer for 5-15 minutes (don't boil). Ladle the cider into glasses to serve.
This is the version you can serve to anyone in the family, but if you want a spiked version (like I did), just add spiced rum to taste. Serve hot or cold. Enjoy the drink and enjoy your weekends!
It's fall everyone! If you've been reading my blog you know that to me it's really been fall for a few weeks already, but today is still special because it's the first official day of fall. Here's a dreamy fall outfit of mine I would wear if money was no concern... the vintage Chanel purse alone is almost $3,000.
This weekend is your last chance to enter my Alex and Ani bracelet giveaway! I'll be randomly selecting a winner Monday night so click the picture below and get your comments in! Good luck and have lovely weekends!
I don't know why but this outfit takes me back to the 90s. I think it's the plaid shirt and dark color palette, a much more girly version of the grunge look that was just so cool. The bird's nest hair was not intentional, but maybe it adds to the effect?

I've fallen in love with the Sally Hansen Nail Polish strips. My first experience was with the leopard pattern on my vacation to Puerto Rico - they lasted the entire vacation (through pool and ocean water) and even the week after. During the summer I had some down time and went back to polishing my nails the old-fashioned way, but now that medical school is back in full swing my nails have not been feeling the love. So I picked these up, did them in about 10 minutes (no drying time is the best, because I was able to do them before bed) and 10 days later they still look beautiful. Now the only question is, which pattern will I do next? Have you ladies tried these yet? Thoughts?
A laid-back outfit perfect for a day full of studying. Or googling random things. Or even getting rained on, which is exactly what happened before I took these pictures. I guess my super creepy smile in the bottom right is me being really happy that I didn't get soaked; the train magically appeared seconds after the downpour began! Take that rain.

Nothing says "fall" to me quite like fresh apples and a plaid shirt. Unfortunately, as some of you may know, mother nature has chosen to torment me by making me allergic to apples. Thankfully I can still wear plaid. This cozy get-up kept me warm all night at the Big E, the largest fair in all of the Northeast US and one of my favorite fall events!
The weekend is here! And here in New England, so is fall! Temperatures today were in the 60s and sunny; I couldn't ask for a more beautiful day. I wore this outfit last Friday for the Greek Festival and it just may be the last time I wear shorts. This weekend I'll be wearing lots of plaids, knits, and my oxfords. The events? Dinner and a movie tonight to relax after a crazy week, the Big E tomorrow, and a baby shower on Sunday! And a neurology midterm due Mondayl! I hope all of you have wonderful weekends, and make sure to enter my Alex and Ani bracelet giveway!
You guys are the best. Really you are. Part of what makes blogging so special is being able to connect with so many amazing people both online, and even in person (I just attended my first blogger meet-up, you can read a little bit about it here!) Thanks so much for reading!
Bracelets, Alex and Ani (you can still win yours here!)
I'm a Smithie! Mm hmm, yup, I graduated from one of the Seven Sisters, Smith College. There I met some of the most amazing women I will ever know- Smith seriously makes some kick ass women (but maybe we made ourselves and are just better for surviving Smith, not without the help of some of the best professors of course). I decided to represent. Extra kisses for my Smithies reading the blog!!!
I know it's still not officially fall, but I hear the geese outside my window and drink pumpkin spice lattes and apple cider, so really it is. Which means fall craft time! How cute are some of these DIY ideas? I'm hoping I can make some time in this super busy schedule of mine and make both of them; they are to die for!
These glitter pumpkins are beyond fabulous. Seriously how much easier could DIY get? Just paint them with gold and glitter (or even spray paint) and add a candle!
If the glitter is a bit much for you, how adorable are these little pumpkin guys? If they were chocolate I would eat them. But alas, they're felt. Check out the how-to here!
It's time for my blog's first giveaway! In the fashion world I consider myself a simple girl and really don't do too much accessorizing, but one accessory I can never turn down is a pretty bracelet! Especially beautiful bangles, they're my favorite. So every time I walk into an Alex and Ani store I immediately know it was a bad idea - there's no leaving without a bracelet.
My first bracelet from Alex and Ani was this feathered one (pictured here and here) that Dave got me for my birthday last year during our trip to Newport, RI. It will always be my favorite because of that. Here are a few of my other Alex and Ani bracelets - representing Saint Christopher , the patron saint of travelers, and the path of life.
