Happy Friday! Labor Day Sales

Happy Friday lovely readers!!! What a week it has been! Celebrating reaching full term, trying out a little bit of leather, some fun nail polish colors, and tan booties in preparation for fall, and getting ready for Liv! I hope you all have fun Labor Day weekend plans! We (thankfully) don't have much planned, getting things ready for baby girl and being bums sounds lovely to me right now. Maybe even a little online shopping? Here are some of the deals from lesser known shops that I will definitely be checking out!
  • Dorothy Perkins: One of my favorite UK-based shops, DP never lets me down, especially for fall. I'm drooling over this leather look pencil skirt and this cozy navy knit sweater. And I've been searching for a skinny leopard print belt forever - this one fits the bill!
    • 25% off of everything with code STYLE 25
  • Oasap: A go-to of mine for bargains on outerwear and other trendy pieces. I'm really tempted to pick up this timeless trench coat and this oversized collared sweater, perfect for showing a little shoulder on fall date nights.
    • $10 OFF $49 with code BTS10; $25 OFF $99 with code: BTS25
  • Urbanog: Another great place to find well-priced trendy pieces, I'm especially loving this tribal cardigan and this classic black dolman sleeve top right now.
    • 25% off of everything with code LABORDAY92
  • Asos: A no-brainer when it comes to online shopping (and hasn't let me down throughout this pregnancy!). This chunky sweater is about to be mine, as is this dark wash denim shirt (I've been looking for the perfect darker shade for fall and finally found it!).
    • 20% off of everything with code SUMMER4EVER (plus free 2 day shipping on $140+)
Happy relaxation and shopping!! Would love to hear about your plans and purchases!

A Little Bit of Leather

Hi guys! Just sharing another easy outfit I wore yesterday - after work N and I had dinner and dessert in Cambridge and I was so thankful I went with a long-sleeved top! The temperatures had dropped and it was perfect weather - almost chilly even - for dining outside and walking around town. At full term walking is looking funnier and funnier; I'm pretty sure that despite my best efforts I now waddle.

Number Game

So I may be holding off on buying my tan ankle booties, but that doesn't mean I'm not pulling out all of my tan pieces from my closet as we transition out of summer. Scroll down below for some fun facts about this pregnancy in numbers!

Tan Booties

Time to start another week - so crazy that it's already the last week of August! The weeks are flying by and before we know it Ms. Olivia will be here! And, more exciting for everyone else I'm sure, fall will be here!! I've been daydreaming about walking around in a chic pair of ankle booties holding Liv in one arm and a caramel apple spice in the other (really dreaming, right?). Holding off on buying any new shoes until after the pregnancy though, waiting to see what my shoe size will end up being! But a girl can pick a few of her favorites in preparation, no?

Clockwise from top right: Rachel Comey Mars (here), Wanted Burnet (here), Dr. Scholl (here), Seychelles Won't Wait (here), DV by Dolce Vita Ilsa (here)

Which is your favorite? I don't know which one I'd pick; they're all so beautifully simple and in such a rich shade! The suede Dr. Scholl pair are especially appealing since they're available from Nyopoly, a new shopping website I'm excited to share with you all (and a sponsor of mine)! At Nyopoly you get exclusive access to pieces whose price you can negotiate. Your price is accepted or a counter-offer is presented in real time, and on top of it you earn up to 20% cash back on every purchase! Happy Friday: Time to sleep!

Happy Friday! I must admit I'm still getting used to this Friday being the end of the week thing like normal people, on clinical rotations you're likely working the weekends, so Friday loses it's sanctity (and I shouldn't get too used to it, since moms work all weekend too). But it's Friday! Just one more work day to get through and all I'm thinking about is sleeping this weekend.

The lovely team over at Bump Nest sent me this pregnancy pillow not too long ago and I've been enjoying my sleep so much more. I'm not gonna lie, I was not going to buy one of these originally (who needs that? I'll just put some extra pillows where I need them! It would take up the whole bed! N and I can't cuddle!), but oh man once I hit around 8 months my sleep was really starting to get affected. You're supposed to sleep on your side, but somehow you feel like your belly is "hanging" too much, your knees touching together strains your hips, your back is aching, and you end up on your back in the middle of the night anyway. So here comes the Bump Nest to the rescue.

I've already found a million uses for it (ok maybe more like 6); I'm pretty sure the laptop tray is not a Bump Nest approved use but what the heck it's perfect for that too! Ladies I warn you though, your sleeping partner will try to steal this! You don't know how many times I've already caught N wrapped up in it. One of the little things I like about Bump Nest as a company is that the fabric remnants from every body pillow are made into baby beanies and are donated to charities (Stitches From The Heart and The Hope Venture) for newborns throughout the US, India and Africa. Have to respect that! Would love to hear what (if anything) you ladies use(d) to help you sleep during your pregnancy! Enjoy your Fridays!!

Nesting Instinct

As the time for baby girl's arrival grows near (36 weeks - ahem, 9 months - today!) more and more friends and strangers are asking me if I'm "ready." My answer is always something like "pretty much, just need to put up one more shelf." The nesting instinct is definitely in effect (and has been), and as I work in lab cutting up skin and looking under the microscope I'm daydreaming about spray painting lamps and, yes, putting up that damn shelf. Here are some iPhone shots of the place so far - still a work in progress!

And thank you all so much for your sweet comments on our maternity shoot! We are so happy with how they came out! If only I had that shelf to display them on ;)

Maternity Shoot pt 2!

Happy Monday! How were your weekends? I thankfully had a quiet one and was able to do lots of cleaning/organizing/napping around the apartment and try out a few new restaurants with N and friends. The highlight was that N's best friend was able to surprise him and throw him a guy's baby shower! We were so worried he wasn't going to fall for it but he did (mwah hahaha)! The most amazing part of it all was that all the boy's chipped in and started a college fund for baby girl - N and I were completely awe-struck! We love you guys! Last week we also got the rest of the pics from our maternity shoot - it was so hard to even pick which ones to share (see the first few photos I shared here)!

Isabel of iSweet Photography did such an amazing job with these!! I was so surprised we actually had some without our faces scrunched up laughing (that's how we spent the entire shoot!). We got lucky that the evening we shot our Harvard Medical School quad was practically empty too! I can't wait for her to capture some of Olivia's first photos.

Friday's Fancies: Get It Done

Happy Friday everyone!!! Today I'm sharing an outfit for running errands, kicking a** and taking names, crossing things off of the to do list (one of the greatest feelings). Keep it simple with a grey tee and boyfriend jeans, comfy with flats (but spice them up by keeping them pointed toe), add some decadence with this gorgeous studded Michael Kors Miranda bag, and keep your tasks in order with this perfect Hustle notepad by CharmandGumption. What are you all up to this weekend? I know I'll be running errands and trying to finish up my apartment re-do before Liv's arrival.

The real version {Tee ($205 here), Jeans ($118 here), Shades ($145 here), Bag ($1595 here), Flats ($130 here), Notebook (here)}
The bargain version {Tee ($25 here), Jeans ($25 here), Shades ($3 here), Bag ($30 here), Flats ($22 here)}

Thanks so much for reading!!

Cape Cod Escape

To keep us going through this week (hump day!!) it's time to look back on the amazing weekend that was had. It's crazy that we fit so much fun and relaxation into two short days, but thanks to K and his family it happened!
The gorgeous beaches of Chatham. And me sporting my SPF hands-on-belly. Can never have too much SPF ladies!
The boys in Chatham ready for some shopping.
Me and K squared waiting for our delicious sandwiches. Love these two.
Adorable windows of duckies... and baby girl has one just for her!
Lots of time spent on the beach. Most of it was spent using my belly as a table for baked goods.
The boys threw the ball around till sunset.
More time on the beach.
Perfect water for stand-up paddle boarding. Sadly I had to stick to the kayak (and we never caught pics!) since I couldn't risk falling off of that thing with baby girl, but can't wait to try it next year!

So many photos! There are so many more that will serve as awesome reminders of a wonderful trip. Thanks again to K and his amazing family for hosting us and giving us a little break from Boston baby prep.

And I'm not sure if you caught on, but we finally decided on baby girl's full name! You'll get the full name when she's born, but for now the little ducky gave her first name away - Olivia! We're big on family names (I'm named after both of my grandmothers) and Olive/Olivia has been in the family for generations! We can't wait to meet our little Liv!

Beach Bum(p)

Happy Monday everyone!! I'm just back from a lovely weekend escape with N and friends to the Cape. I'll share more pictures of the trip this week (likely Wednesday when I'll be needing a little mid-week pick-me-up), but for now I'm sharing a casual summer outfit - I wore this for exploring around Chatham and later heading to the beach. I told you I love this chambray shirt

Denim on Denim

Or the Canadian Tuxedo, as connoisseurs like to call it.
This chambray top is seriously one of my favorites. Of course, I can't button it anymore (the last time I could was here), but thankfully this type of shirt can easily be worn cardigan style! It will continue to be a favorite as I start planning my "post-baby" fall wardrobe, maybe a darker denim will be better for fall?

Forever 21 chambray top (similar here), Old Navy maternity jeans (here), J. crew vintage tee (here), BCBG flats via Marshall's (similar here), thrifted Dooney and Bourke bag (on ebay here), Relic gold watch (here)

Hope you all have lovely weekends!! N and I are headed off to the Cape for another mini-escape before baby girl arrives!
