How to Pack Without a Suitcase

So it's no secret that I love traveling. But traveling has its' pitfalls, many of which we can't control (delays, other people's children crying, etc.). But one thing you can control - what you bring. I hate checking luggage. Especially if I'm traveling internationally, I refuse to check baggage. Here's how I packed for my recent trip to Cancun - granted it was 6 days and sometimes with longer trips it's hard to not bring a larger suitcase, but regardless here's how I did it!

First though, a few rules to pack by:

Know where you're going, what the weather will be like, and what you'll be doing. Of course part of the fun of vacation is doing spontaneous things, but the more you know, the more you can pack accordingly. When we have no idea what's going on, we have the tendency to prepare for it all.

Mix and match. Make sure everything you pack goes together! I try on everything I plan on packing and make sure I like the way it looks. Too many people pack too much and don't wear it all! Why carry things around that you won't even wear? I also like to cheat with bikinis and bring ONE bottom that I can mix and match with different tops!

Don't pack anything that can spill. When I'm traveling I skip my usual face wash and bring face wipes instead (I love these by Soap & Glory, they're my absolute favorite). Dry shampoo is also very useful!

Get a good travel bag. See a picture of my Lo & Sons O.G. bag below - I swear by this thing.

Stay tuned for how I wore everything I packed! {bottom image via

Travel Outfit and Times Square

Happy Friday everyone! I feel like I got back from Cancun just yesterday but I've already been immersed in hospital orientations, new faces, and endless hospital acronyms. Regardless of my current place we'll talk about my trip for the next few posts if that's ok with you ;)
This was my designated travel outfit - my key for a travel outfit is comfy clothes that breathes and stretches (especially the pants so I can curl up in my seat) and bags that can carry it all but still look chic! I refuse to check bags so this was all that I brought! We stopped in NYC on our way to Cancun to visit family and snapped a few pics in Times Square - the bottom pic was taken in the airport (can't you tell by the gorgeous carpeting?). Wishing you all wonderful weekends!
Top, Old Navy
Jeans, F21

Many of you who follow me on Instagram got to see a few of these pics the day I took them! Make sure to follow me on Instagram if you don't already for more pics - my username is lauralacquer

Work It Wednesday No.9

A quick post because I'm headed back to Boston this morning (just got back home late last night) for orientation. Plenty of pictures to share soon! For now sharing one of my favorite things I love to do - pairing masculine and feminine. Here I paired a masculine grey trouser with a dainty floral top for an easy and comfortable work look!
Close up with my nerd glasses ;)

Top, Old Navy
Trousers, Steve and Barry's
Pumps, Nine West

My favorite look from Work It Wednesday No.8 was.... (drumroll)

Marion from Marionberry Style! Such a simple but wonderfully constructed dress (I love her description of it) that just looks so chic! Especially with her nude belt and heels and the pop of color in her clutch! Marion always works it, so check out her blog! Thank you all so much for taking the time to link up with us, hope you will again this week!

Celebration Time

Hi lovelies! It's been a while (well a week) since I last posted, but I mentioned in last week's post that I wouldn't be posting because I had a HUGE medical licensing exam coming up. Well I took it yesterday! I'm done!!! Woo hoo! No Work It Wednesday today, but like I said last week the link for Work It Wednesday No.8 will remain open for a while and I'll pick my favorite look from there next week! So feel free to link up with a new look here! Thanks so much for all of your good luck wishes, they meant so much to me! Now stay tuned for some traveling inspired posts (since the next thing on my to-do list is Cancun), as well as a video response to your questions! Feel free to send more if you have any! xx

Work It Wednesday No.7

Happy Wednesday everyone! I must admit I almost forgot it was Wednesday - having nothing scheduled this week except for "studying" definitely makes it easy to forget what day it is! It also means I didn't have to go to the hospital (or dress up) so I decided to share an old look with you all! This was one of my first outfits I shared on the blog back in August of last year when I started. What do you think of the bangs? I swear I get bangs every summer and then hate them by the fall. I spend all winter growing them out and then cut them again the next summer! Ladies don't let me fall into the trap this year!!! It's probably gonna happen anyway...
Top and pants, H&M
Belt, Gap
Shoes, Marshalls (Maxstudio)

The participation in last week's Work It Wednesday was phenomenal! I couldn't believe how many of you linked up! Picking who worked it best was so hard because you all worked it! Seriously, you ladies continue to inspire me and your readers!

Ms. Mia Maree was my pick for last week!

Her tangerine blazer - I want it now! And the way she paired it with such a simple and delicately patterned top, just lovely! The dark pants make it perfect for a casual day at the office. Great job Mia, perfect inspiration for spring work attire!
